Beginner Quilting Class: Sew Quick Pattern by Fabric Cafe



Class Overview: Class will be held at Let It Bee, an Artist's Collective

Part 1: Quilt Block Cutting and Sewing,  11/24/24, 2:30-5:30 pm.
In our first session, you’ll learn how to cut and sew quilt blocks accurately using the Sew Quick pattern. We’ll cover fabric selection, measuring, cutting, and step-by-step piecing. Plus, you’ll discover various quilt layout options to create a personalized design.

Part 2: Adding Backing, Batting, and Finishing Your Quilt 12/8/24,  2:30-5:30 pm.
In the second session, we’ll help you assemble your quilt with backing, batting, and basic quilting techniques. Learn how to add structure and softness, making your quilt ready for snuggling or gifting.

This two-part quilting class is designed to make the quilting process fun, relaxing, and achievable—even for those who are brand new to sewing! By the end, you’ll leave with a finished quilt you can proudly display or gift during the holiday season

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Must have and be able to use sewing machine. Bring bobbins, cords, foot pedal. Familiar with rotary cutters
Materials Included: Pattern. Self Healing Cutting mats, rulers and irons will be provided.
Requirements: 3 Coordinating fabrics, 1-yard cuts Working sewing machine Bobbins and matching thread Rotary cutter, cutting mat and ruler if you have them Small scissors Seam Ripper Pins May be bought after first class: 3 Yards Backing Twin Size Batting Sewing thread to match
Instructor: Pamela Schmidt
Instructor Bio: Pamela Schmidt is a passionate quilt teacher and community builder dedicated to teaching the arts of sewing, quilting, and beading. Having learned to sew at the age of ten, Pamela has spent decades refining her craft and sharing it with others. She has taught students of all ages, from young homeschoolers to adults, fostering a love of quilting and creativity in each of them. Known for her warmth and encouragement, Pamela creates welcoming spaces for learning, where people come together to connect, grow, and create. Beyond her local community, Pamela has also worked with a quilter's cooperative in Malawi, helping empower women with valuable skills to support their families. Her commitment to giving back extends to raising funds for scholarships and community initiatives through her quilting projects, using her talents to support education and uplift communities both near and far.
