Shoes Kit

Part 1: Online Instruction via Zoom

  • Date: November 19, 6-7:30 pm.
  • Location: Zoom (link provided upon registration)
  • Details: In this 90-minute session, Sydney will walk you through preparing your shoes, selecting fabrics, and the Happy Feet pattern essentials. You’ll learn how to cut, piece, and quilt your fabric layers to prepare for attachment. With close-up demonstrations and a chance for live Q&A, you'll finish with confidence for the in-person session.

Part 2: In-Person Assembly at Let It Bee in Hamilton VA

  • Date: December 14, 9-11 am.
  • Location: Let It Bee, An Artist's Collective in Hamilton, VA
  • Details: Now it’s time to bring your quilted shoes to life! In this 2-hour hands-on session, you’ll attach your fabric pieces to your shoes and get expert tips on ensuring a perfect fit and lasting finish. Plus, enjoy the fun of working alongside other crafters, and leave with a pair of custom quilted sneakers that reflect your personal style!

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: All are welcome to join this class, basic sewing skills required. .
Materials Included: Pattern
Requirements: Fabric for your shoes and binding. These shoes require two fat quarters of coordinating fabric and a bias cut binding. You can make the bias-binding from the fabric for your shoes or something coordinating. Before the in-person class on Dec.14, you will sandwich your outside fabric, interfacing (SF101), fusible foam (Bosal or Soft and Stable), and inside fabric. Quilt as desired. Recommended quilting at 1" or less. Bring to class all materials needed to sew the shoes - pre-quilted fabric, sharp fabric shears, matching thread, all parts of your machine, clips, marking tools that will show up on fabric, and a ready-to-have fun attitude. Paper scissors and a rotary cutter can be handy. Don't forget a seam ripper.
