| Instructor Bio: | Hi! Hola! I am Isabel, an Ecuadorian-American artist. Our family and I moved back to the States in July 2023, after living in Lima-Peru, our last post overs I have a degree in Fashion Design and I have been sewing for a long time! My mom was my first sewing teacher. Being surrounded by all her sewing supplies really sparked in me, from a very young age, the desire to learn to sew and create. I love all things handmade, vintage pieces of all sorts, embroidery, textures, textiles, color, flowers and of course I have an addiction to fabrics and sewing! I had my own business in Ecuador printing and designing my own fabrics. I designed and sewed garments with my hand painted and screen printed fabrics and I sold them in the Galapagos Islands. In the United States I worked in the bridal industry and I worked as a First Hand for the Washington National Opera in DC. And since 2010 I have been designing and selling handmade accessories in my Etsy shop. I move around the world with my family and my sewing room travels with me as well, that is why in 2010 I created my brand called: Gypsy Tailor. I have had 11 sewing rooms, counting cities in the USA and countries around the world. I am inspired to sew all the time, and love to be in my sewing room “where the magic happens”. I love to teach others sewing tips and techniques, for me sharing is learning and I especially enjoy meeting other artists and makers around the world! I am a mother of twin boys that are my biggest inspiration to keep working and continuing in my creative journey. Join me in the behind the sewing scenes on Instagram @gypsytailor and on my website to read my blog about the different sewing projects I work on. Find my handmade accessories in my Etsy shop: Gypsy Tailor. |
