Box It Up Pouch with Minki Kim’s Pattern

Join us for a fun, skill-building sewing class as we make the Box It Up Pouch by Minki Kim! This versatile zippered pouch is a great project for organizing sewing supplies, travel essentials, cosmetics, small projects, and more. With two size options, it’s also a project you’ll want to make again and again.

During this full class, we’ll work through the construction of the pouch together, focusing on techniques you can use in many future bag-making projects. We’ll begin by preparing and quilting the exterior of the bag, giving you an opportunity to practice creating a beautifully finished quilted exterior.

Next, we’ll tackle one of the skills that can make sewists a little nervous—installing a zipper. We’ll walk through zipper placement, stitching, and finishing so you can learn how to achieve a neat, professional-looking result and feel more confident adding zippers to future projects.

You’ll also learn how to construct and install a drop-in lining, creating a clean interior and giving your finished pouch a polished look. We’ll discuss tips for getting the lining to fit properly, managing bulk, and finishing your project neatly.

The Box It Up Pouch is 5" square precut friendly, making it a wonderful project for using mini charm packs, favorite fabric collections, or pieces from your stash. Choose coordinating fabrics for a cohesive look or mix and match prints to create something completely unique.

Students should be comfortable using their sewing machine and sewing a consistent seam allowance. Some basic sewing experience is recommended, but you do not need to be an experienced bag maker. This is a great opportunity to build your confidence with quilting, zipper installation, and bag construction while completing a useful project.

Woven Fusible interfacing: SF101
Foam Stabilizer:  Fat Quarter Soft & Stable or Basal In-R-Form
